One Kent man is dead and another Kent man faces a potential charge of vehicular homicide after a single-vehicle, high-speed crash on Monday evening along the Kent-Black Diamond Road Southeast in unincorporated Auburn.
Gurpreet Gosal, 21, a passenger in a BMW, died from multiple injuries to the head and body, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. Gosal was dead at the scene of the 7:45 p.m. crash in the 31800 block of Kent-Black Diamond Road Southeast.
King Count Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a 23-year-old Kent man for investigation of vehicular homicide. Toxicology results are pending, said Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Cindi West, in an email.
Witnesses said the BMW traveled northbound at a high rate of speed, crossed over the double yellow line to pass a vehicle in front of it, but had to swerve back because of oncoming traffic, West said. When the driver swerved back, he lost control, crossed into the southbound lane, struck the west side guardrail, went over the rail and impacted a tree on the right front door.
