Two people were killed in a single-car crash Saturday, May 11 in Kent in the 2400 block of South 272nd Street on the West Hill, just west of Interstate 5.

Officers were dispatched at about 7:40 p.m. after multiple witnesses called 911 to report a speeding vehicle had struck a tree and caught fire, according to a May 11 Kent Police news release. Witnesses said they tried to remove the two occupants but were unsuccessful.

On arrival, officers and Puget Sound Fire personnel found a white sedan completely engulfed in flames, according to police. Both people already were dead.

Police traffic investigators are looking into what led up to the crash. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting the investigation as to the cause of death, and the identities of the vehicle occupants.
