Renton man dies in crash along NB I-5 in Federal Way

Washington State Patrol says a medical emergency caused the crash.

A 38-year-old Renton man was killed after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a tree in Federal Way on Wednesday evening.

At about 5:30 p.m. Feb. 3 on Interstate 5 near milepost 143 and South 320th Street, the man was driving northbound when he lost control of the vehicle, driving into a ditch on the right side of the road. According to Washington State Patrol troopers, the vehicle rolled after striking a tree and came to rest on its side. The driver died at the scene.

The man, who was the vehicle’s only occupant, was identified by State Patrol as Christopher Gaston of Renton. After investigation, a State Patrol press memo states the cause of the crash was a medical emergency.
