The Spokane Chiefs defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-1 Tuesday night at ShoWare Center in Kent. Spokane (21-9-2-0) opened the scoring at 9:25 of the first period on Levko Koper's 15th goal of the season. Mitch Wahl and Kyle Beach registered assists on the play.

Reader’s question regarding church use of public buildings a good one

Thank goodness for Glenn Harrison’s inquiry about church use of public school property (“Why can church use public school?” page 6, Dec. 2 Kent Reporter.) There is nothing wrong with the schools renting for any use including commercial or community as long as the renter is paying market rates for the space and covering costs of utilities, custodial service, etc.

Globetrotters to return to Kent Feb. 19

The Harlem Globetrotters are coming back to Kent 7 p.m. Feb. 19 at the ShoWare Center. The Globetrotters sold out their basketball performance last February at the arena. The team performs basketball wizardry, hilarious antics and plenty of fan interaction.

They’ve lost their precious lives in the service of others.
