Thunderbirds fall in overtime to Americans

Western Hockey League history was made Saturday night at the Toyota Center in Kennewick. For the first time in the league's history, brothers faced each other as starting goalies. The Kelowna Rockets defeat T-Birds 3-2 Saturday

Seattle took a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal by Jim O'Brien at 9:39 of the first period. O'Brien brought the puck out of the left corner into the left face off dot. He beat Kelowna goalie Adam Brown through the legs for his first goal of the year. Greg Scott had an assist on the goal.

The Canadian Hockey League today announced Seattle Thunderbirds goaltender Calvin Pickard has been named the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week.

Thunderbirds shut out Winterhawks 4-0

PORTLAND – Seattle Thunderbirds goalie Calvin Pickard made 20 saves against the Portland Winter Hawks Saturday night in Portland to lead to the T-Birds to a 4-0 shutout win. Pickard stopped eight shots in the first period, seven shots in the second period and five shots in the third period to get his first WHL win and first WHL shutout. Pickard's record is now 1-3-0-0.
