The annual Des Moines Mid-Sound Sailing Social Sailboat Races will kick off 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Des Moines Marina. A social time and prizes will follow the race. The races continue Thursdays through Aug. 14. Proceeds from the events will benefit Easter Seals’ Camp Stand By Me.

It’s a question that haunts Paul Dunn. Why wasn’t his son Justin wearing his seatbelt the cold December night when he died in a horrible crash in Renton?
