Dennis Stoddard, owner of the Black Dog Brathaus and Creamery in Kent closed the door for business May 10 with plans to try the recipe again.
“I do want to do it again,” Stoddard said. “I’ll get this settled and see where I stand and maybe look at changing the concept.”
Stoddard’s drawing card was preparing all the food at the restaurant.
“We made just about everything ourselves – the salad, soups and sausages.”
The doors were opened in February, but Stoddard said he spent so much on construction and plumbing along with license and permit fees, there was little left for operating capital.
The Brathouse was at 227 Washington Ave. N. Stoddard said he thought the location was fine, but he had problems getting “brand recognition.”
