The Kmart in Kent isn’t on the latest list of 64 Kmart stores closing across the nation.
The company will close 64 stores by mid-December because of declining sales, according to a USA Today report earlier this week. The Yakima location is the only store closing in Washington.
Besides Kent at 24800 W. Valley Hwy., Kmart stores are in Bellingham, Burlington, Chehalis, Spanaway, Spokane, Tacoma and Walla Walla.
Sears Holding Corp., the parent company of Kmart, announced in April that would close 68 Kmart stores. The latest closures are in addition to that list. With the latest closures, Kmart’s number of stores has dropped to just more than 800.
