The Kent business Monterey Gourmet Foods, a food processing company based out of California, announced it will be closing its doors.
The company has 75 employees and according to Andy Mun, chief financial officer, the business is hoping to offer employment and transfers to those losing their jobs.
Mun said the company is searching for a buyer.
Some of the employees will relocate to other locations in California where the company is located.
The Monterey Gourmet company is one of the largest producers of tofu in the world according to Mun. According to the company website, the business produces pastas, sauces, dips, spreadable cheese, semi-hard cheese, prepared entrees, frozen entrees, sausages, tamales, organic dips and organic salsas.
The company began in Monterey, Calif in 1989 as the Monterey Pasta Company.
Monterey is owned by the South Korean-based Pulmone Holdings Company.
