Does anyone remember when our state representatives promised to finish Highway 167 and 509 if we would approve and additional 5 cents a gallon on motor fuel? They also promised to maintain the highway bridges that have been rusting in neglect.
Well, Mayor Dana Ralph and the City Council have reluctantly agreed with other local municipalities to fund about a third of the anticipated costs of the project with money that they don’t have. They’re hoping that somebody will come up with some money that will bail out the city on what was sold to taxpayers as a state funded road project.
I expect that our taxes will be going up again to cover this unprecedented blackmail by the state on local municipalities.
