I agree with Mr. Richard Brandau’s letter (“Against pay raise for mayor”, March 13, Kent Reporter), but what do you expect when you attract people for the position of mayor at $102,000 like Suzette Cooke?
It is public knowledge that the mayor has a very extensive track record of spawning financial catastrophes with no accountability. Since moving to Kent in early 2014, I have found out rather quickly that there is little confidence and trust with the mayor of Kent and the citizens of Kent have paid dearly.
Does she have any real “skin in the game?”
The residents of Kent have voted and now are living the “Mayor Cooke Dream.” We all have to live with our choices, and it gets rather ugly.
I am in favor for a higher salary for mayor, but let’s implement it with the next election, not now.
