Make noise over climate change

Within the next couple of months, our senators will be voting on the most important climate-change legislation in U.S. history, which narrowly passed the House in June as the American Clean Energy and Security Act.

Today, as part of a national day of action, I along with several friends, coworkers and fellow environmentalists marched over to Sen. Cantwell and Murray’s Seattle offices armed with pictures, mementos, and keepsakes explaining why we want a strong federal climate bill this year. We left these mementos and photos for our senators so that they could be well-equipped with an arsenal of reasons to support and strengthen the climate bill as powerful industry interests work to dissuade them in the coming months.

It was such a powerful moment, standing there in the crowded hallway outside of Sens. Cantwell’s and Murray’s offices with people of all ages and backgrounds rallying for a single cause: the health of our planet and the well-being of future generations who will inherit it. Climate change is truly an issue that affects each and every one of us and we must let our senators know just how important it is that they take action now! Call, write, or e-mail them today and tell them why you care.
