Valley Medical Center has been a major healthcare leader in South King County since the early forties. Now, with the initiation of an alliance with the University of Washington Medicine, Valley Medical is poised to move to greater heights. The alliance is going to be a powerful tool in expanding and improving healthcare in the region for years to come.
As the alliance pieces are pulled together, it’s very important the VMC board of commissioners stay strong in their management role of the center. The next elected commissioner must be a proven leader and strong member of the community.
Mary Alice Heuschel is that candidate for the open commissioner seat. She has a proven record as the superintendent of the Renton School District for the past five years. Not only was she honored as
the 2011 Washington State Superintendent of the Year, she is one of the top four superintendents in the nation! Mary Alice has also served on the 2010-11 Valley Hospital President’s Advisory Council and has been a strong voice for the newly formed alliance with Valley Medical and UW Medicine.
Mary Alice grew up with a strong interest in healthcare. Her mom is a registered nurse and a great example of commitment to service. Mary Alice understands the importance of quality healthcare and education to a growing community.
Mary Alice is the only candidate with experience serving on the Valley Medical President’s Advisory Council. Mary Alice is the only candidate recognized for her transparent and responsible fiscal management of large budgets. Mary Alice is the only candidate to go on record endorsing the new alliance. Mary Alice offers solid leadership qualities and an independent perspective. As a public hospital commissioner, she will serve with integrity and passion to represent the best interests of our communities.
