I am writing to add my support to Leslie Hamada in her quest to serve on the Kent School Board, Position No. 3.
I have known Leslie for several years especially in regard to her efforts to improve the health and well being of our public school students.
Deborah Ranniger is my friend, neighbor and colleague. She is serving her second term on the Kent City Council and I strongly support her re-election to a third term.
We know you will all agree that it is time that we speak up by voting for the best candidates for all levels of our government.
Starting with our own local city of Kent and other Washington cities, council members, Kent School Board, King and other counties in Washington, and to vote in all elections.
The name Mary Alice Heuschel will sound familiar because she is currently serving as our own superintendent of the Renton School District. She is recognized as a national expert in the field of education and most recently selected as the 2011 Washington state superintendent of the year.
After meeting with both candidates for Valley Medical Center Commissioner I have decided to endorse Paul Joos, M.D. As the third candidate in the primary I attended several candidate forums and interviews and I found Dr. Joos to be the best qualified candidate for this important position.
I am writing in support of Debbie Straus in the upcoming Kent School District school board election on Nov. 8.
One of the best things that can happen to the Kent School District this fall is electing Leslie Hamada as a school board member. Leslie has vast experience through countless volunteer hours with the district in a variety of “kid friendly” opportunities.
I would like to take this opportunity to encourage Kent voters to consider casting their vote for Larry Sims for Position No. 1 in the upcoming Kent School Board elections.
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is a disorder of the brain and behavior. It causes severe anxiety in those affected. OCD involves both obsessions and compulsions that take a lot of time and get in the way of important activities the person values.
What is it with those who post signs in Kent? In Kirkland, election signs go down the day after an election. Here, nearly six weeks later, there does not seem to be any attempt to remove them. Do we need to impose fines?
During the last Legislative session in Olympia, lawmakers made some changes in the impaired-driving laws, impacting those accused of driving under the influence (DUI), physical control, vehicular assault when DUI, and vehicular homicide when DUI. One of the changes went into effect July 22, known as “Hailey’s Law”. The law requires the mandatory impound and hold of a vehicle when the driver is arrested for DUI or physical control. Upon impound, the car may not be redeemed by the driver for 12 hours. A registered owner who was not the arrested driver may redeem the vehicle at any time after impound. Previously, police officers had discretion in choosing whether to impound a vehicle or not.
In the modern age of medicine, one fact is difficult to dispute: Using vaccines to prevent disease is hugely successful. And as parents prepare to send their children back to school, this time of year serves an important reminder of how the highly effective vaccines we have today can protect students and their classmates from the horrible diseases suffered by kids I treated in my medical practice years ago.
When you vote in the primary election this Tuesday, please join me in voting for Mary Alice Heuschel as public hospital commissioner. This election is very important because it affects the health of our community and Mary Alice Heuschel is the best candidate for the job.
I was disappointed to see that candidate Mary Alice Heuschel was able to have two lengthy letters published in both the Kent and Renton Reports. When I see who is endorsing her I question the direction she will be voting.
Superintendent Mary Alice Heuschel should be spending her time on Renton Schools, not a hospital commissioner campaign.
I encourage voters in Kent to vote for Dana Ralph for Kent City Council Position No. 7.
Dana is a life-long Kent resident and has demonstrated her leadership on several city commissions over a number of years.
We've lived in Maple Valley for the past 20 years. My son is a junior pre-law at Seattle University. He recently was awarded a fellowship. Their mission was to award those taken from their homes and put in those horrible camps honorary degrees. It was really amazing. The Dean of Law at Seattle University is on a leave of absence writing a book about this and Mr. Korematsu.
Valley Medical Center has been a major healthcare leader in South King County since the early forties. Now, with the initiation of an alliance with the University of Washington Medicine, Valley Medical is poised to move to greater heights. The alliance is going to be a powerful tool in expanding and improving healthcare in the region for years to come.
The Kent Chamber of Commerce recognizes there are two issues in regards to the Regional Fire Authority. One is the action of the Regional Fire Authority as it pertains to fees charged to the business community. The other issue is regarding the city of Kent and the additional money that the city of Kent kept from the fire benefit tax, which was funneled into the general fund of the 2011 city of Kent budget.
When you vote in the upcoming primary election on Aug. 16, I urge you to vote for Dr. Mary Alice Heuschel for Commissioner of Public Hospital District No. 1. This election is important to our community because this commission oversees the Valley Medical Center and its clinics throughout South King County.
