The jail needs some attention. It has been turned over to the employees who are armor-plated by the union. It is a cesspool. We told our attorney of our treatment at the jail and he said he is treated the same way, like an inmate. As you know inmates are not treated well, exposed to MRSA and other horrors.
At the Fifth Avenue entrance the employees have generated crude home made signs and taped them about. On my visit I did not see the sign telling me to “STOP!!!! and wait for the officer to call you forward.” I use a scooter to move about due my disability.
I had looked up the jail and saw that cell phones must be turned off and did turn mine off; ah, downtown you cannot take them in the building at all; why the difference?
Nearly one half the boxes provided to hold cell phones have hand-lettered notes on them stating they don’t work.
The working ones take cash with no visible accounting method. Who owns the boxes are gets the funds? Can the public not take cell phones in to generate more funds for the employees?
It is odd that inmate accounts cannot accept cash but these boxes can. As a taxpayer I am concerned that the jail is going to blow up in our face so to speak. Who is in charge of this terrible place?
