Recess Monkey, which bills itself as Seattle’s greatest children’s music band, plays noon Wednesday as part of the city-sponsored free Picnic Performances at Town Square Plaza, Second Avenue and Harrison Street.
Parents and children can enjoy the trio that blends various musical influences with clever and comical lyrics. The band’s songs include hints of pop, folk, surf rock and “swamp-tinged country.”
The songs include lyrics about squirrel rivalries as well as a tiny monkey with aspirations of being an astronaut.
