Six virtuoso guitarists will play as part of Kent’s Spotlight Series on Friday, Jan. 24.

California Guitar Trio and Montreal Guitar Trio perform at 7:30 p.m. at Kent-Meridian Performing Arts Center, 10020 S.E. 256th St.

Featuring guitarists from four countries (Japan, Canada, Belgium and the United States), California Guitar Trio and Montreal Guitar Trio bring together more than 40 years of combined performing experience into one unique ensemble, according to a city of Kent media release. CGT’s steel stringed-guitars blend naturally with MG3’s nylon-stringed guitars on original compositions and new arrangements of progressive rock, world, jazz, and classical music.

Inspired in 2009 by an impromptu studio session together in Montreal, CGT and MG3 have proceeded to release a live recording (2011), land showcases at numerous arts presenter conferences, and sustain frequent co-bill touring throughout North America; from the Iridium in New York City, to Montreal Jazz Festival (twice), to Napa Valley Opera House and ever-increasing points in between.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors and $15 for youth. Tickets are available at www.kentarts.com, by calling 253-856-5051 or in person at the Kent Commons (525 Fourth Ave. N.). Hours for phone and in-person sales are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. The box office is closed on Sunday.

Spotlight Series is presented by the Kent Arts Commission and Kent Parks, Recreation and Community Services. The California Guitar Trio + Montreal Guitar Trio show is partially funded by WESTAF, National Endowment for the Arts, and Washington State Arts Commission.
