Fireworks, food trucks, music and cooling off in the water

A fireworks display returned to the city of Kent’s Fourth of July Splash at Lake Meridian Park for the first time since 2019.

Prior to the fireworks, attendees enjoyed music from the Seattle-based Massy Ferguson band and the The I Corps Concert band, of Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Food trucks at the event were from Half Lion Brewing, Fire Tacos de Birria, Mocha Motion and Kettle Beach Concessions.

Swimmers took advantage of the hot, sunny day by taking to the water.

The pandemic halted Splash in 2020 and 2021, and in 2022, the city had music and activities, but no fireworks show due to a lack of staff in the Kent Police Department and city Parks Department.
