Amy Hānaiali‘i, one of Hawaii’s most respected and loved female vocalists and songwriters, performs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Kent-Meridian Performing Arts Center, 10020 S.E. 256th St.
Hanaiali’i’s talent is the result of an exceptional blend of classical training, modern music influences and her native Hawaiian heritage from having been raised on the island of Maui. She is particularly know for ha’i – the Hawaiian female falsetto style.
Her success as a recording artist is evidenced by her status as Hawaii’s top-selling female vocalist, as well as the multitude of awards and acknowledgements she has received, including four Grammy nominations for Best Hawaiian Music Album. She has recorded 11 albums and opened for artists such as Carlos Santana, Willie Nelson, Joe Cocker, Wayne Newton, Arlo Guthrie, The Beach Boys and many more.
Tickets are $28 for general, $26 for seniors ages 55 and older, and $20 for youth ages 25 and younger.
The Spotlight Series is presented by the Kent Arts Commission and Kent Parks, Recreation and Community Services.
