Take part in the first Cornhole Cup Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 20 at Pat’s Bar and Grill, 114 Railroad Ave. N., in downtown Kent.
The tournament starts at 10 a.m. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Children’s Therapy Center in Kent.
Cornhole is similar to horseshoes except you use wooden boxes called cornhole platforms and corn bags instead of horseshoes and metal stakes, according to the American Cornhole Association. Contestants take turns pitching their corn bags at the platform until a contestant reaches the score of 21 points. A corn bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point.
Tournament structure is double-elimination. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams as decided by tournament play.
The entry fee is $40. You must be age 21 or older to participate. Registration deadline is Wednesday, Aug. 17.
Register at Pat’s Bar or go to www.facebook.com/patscornholecup.
