Lavay Smith and Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers deliver a loving and creative tribute to country darling Patsy Cline at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, at the Kent-Meridian Performing Arts Center, 10020 S.E. 256th St.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and $15 for youth. Tickets are available at www.kentarts.com, by calling 253-856-5051 or at the Kent Commons, 525 Fourth Ave. N. Hours for phone and in-person sales are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. The box office is closed on Sunday.
The “Crazy in Love with Patsy Cline” show is part of the Kent Arts Commission’s Spotlight Series.
Smith, vocalist and bandleader of the Red Hot Skillet Lickers, has become known as a modern day Jazz and Blues diva with a singing style influenced by Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Bessie Smith and Little Esther Phillips. Smith brings a bluesy jolt of energy to the jazz/country crossroads, delivering jazz and blues-steeped arrangements of Cline’s songs.
