The World Championship Ice Racing series kicks off its 37th season in Kent at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 at the ShoWare Center.
North America’s top professional motorcycle and quad racers are busy preparing their fastest machines to compete in this year’s World Championship Chase. Riders from as far away as North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Kansas and elsewhere will be in town to take on the best of the West.
All of the high powered machines will be equipped with razor sharp steel studded tires allowing for them to achieve incredible speeds on ice but also adding an element of danger not present in dirt track racing. Select Amateur Classes will also be competing giving local racers a chance to compete in the spotlight, on ice, in front of their hometown fans.
Riders will compete in Ice racing’s two Professional Divisions. The lightning fast state-of-the-art Manufacturers World Cup Motorcycles and the wild and unpredictable ICE Unlimited Outlaw Quads (highly modified 4-wheel ATV’s).
Riders to watch include “Slammin” Sammy Wiggins, Kevin “The Viking” Anderson and “Freight Train” Tom McGrane.
Tickets are $40, $30 and $15. Children ages 12 and younger get in for $8. All tickets are $2 more the day of the show.
