Antics, a Los Angeles-based hip-hop company, brings a multimedia, urban dance performance to town at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5 at the Kent-Meridian Performing Arts Center, 10020 SE 256th St.
Founded in 2006 by Artistic director Amy “Catfox” Campion, Antics creates performances that leverage the expressive capacity of hip-hop. Antics’ work transforms stories and ideas into moving visual metaphors through breakdancing, locking, popping, krumping, DJ’s, MC’s, spoken word, poetry, theater, graffiti art, and film.
The company consists of 10 members who represent the best street dancers in Los Angeles. “Sneaker Suites” utilizes the expressiveness and virtuosity of street dance, as well as poetry to tell the stories of sneakers: those who make them, those who wear them, and those who dance in them.

Hours for phone and in-person sales are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. The box office is closed on Sunday.
Antics is also committed to participating in community education through exciting and engaging residencies, workshops, and lecture/demonstrations. The company will teach a street dance styles workshop on Thursday, Feb. 4 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Allegro Performing Arts Academy, 222 Central Ave. S.
The workshop will include popping, bboying/bgirling (breakdancing), and hip-hop choreography. All ages and all abilities are welcome, from complete beginner to experienced performer. A $15 on-site registration fee includes one complimentary ticket to the public performance on Feb. 5. (Pre-registration is not necessary.)
