For the first time ever, Kent’s French Field will be home to a playoff game in the Independent Women’s Football League.
The Seattle Majestics, who’ve made the field their home turf this season, had a massive win on the road Saturday in Tucson.
That, coupled with rival L.A. eking out a 1-point win to Sacramento Saturday, keeps the Majestics as the No. 1 team in the Western Conference, entitling them to a first-round playoff game at home.
“We won 55-0,” said team co-owner and player Camille Head, of Seattle’s victory over the Tucson team, the Monsoons. “It’s a significant win, for sure.”
From the start, Seattle made it clear they came to win. The women racked up 48 points in the first half.
The home IWFL game that Kent earned itself will take place 7 p.m. June 27. The women will take on the Chicago Force in the match up.
“We expect this is going to be our toughest team so far,” Head said, noting they run a similar offense.
Regular ticket prices are $12 for adults, $5 for youths, and $10 for seniors and members of the military. VIP tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for senior and military and $8 for youths.
Editor’s Note: The Majestics are having a fundraising wine event 7:30 p.m. Friday at Castle Bridge Winery, 7645 S. 180th St. Tickets are $20 and include 10-14 tastings and food.
