Maple Valley’s Lucia Flores-Wiseman, 22, won her Battle Round Monday night, March 17 on NBC’s “The Voice” to earn a spot in the Knockouts.
Flores-Wiseman went head-to-head with teammate Hayden Grove singing a duet of “My Funny Valentine” by Frank Sinatra.
Coach Adam Levine selected Flores-Wiseman over Grove as the winner of the battle.
“One of the greatest things about your voice is that you balance this stylist thing, and you have this power,” Levine said during the show about Flores-Wiseman. “And to me that’s what like really differentiates you from everybody else that tries to do what you’re doing.”
Michael Bublé, one of the four coaches on the show, said Flores-Wiseman reminded him of Lady Gaga.
“I don’t have all of the words to express my gratitude,” Flores-Wiseman said in a Tuesday, March 18 Facebook post. “Thank you to each and every person who has sent positive energy and support! It means the world! Thanks to Hayden Grove for creating magic on the stage with me and Adam Levine and Kate Hudson for giving us great insight. See you at Knockouts!”
Hudson is Levine’a advisor who helped prepare Flores-Wiseman for the performance.
Levine picked Flores-Wiseman for his team on the Feb. 24 show after her blind audition when she sang “La Llorona” by Ángela Aguilar, which is entirely in Spanish.
Flores-Wiseman, a 2023 graduate of the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism and public interest. She is a 2021 graduate of Green River College in Auburn. She graduated in 2020 from Tahoma High School, where she was part of the Chamber Choir and Jazz Choir.
