NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) South King County offers its Family-to-Family Education Program for the winter season, beginning Feb. 16. Classes are on Thursdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the South Renton area.
The free 12-week course is designed to help educate family members who have a family member who has a mental illness, including bi-polar, OCD, schizophrenia, major depressive disorder and panic disorder. The class covers these illnesses and provides helpful information that includes problem solving skills, empathy and listening skills, basic medication review, recovery and rehabilitation, plus other topics.
NAMI is one of the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. The NAMI organization operates at the national, state and local level.
