The Courts and Community Committee of King County Superior Court will host a celebration in Kent in honor of Native American heritage and achievements.
The free event is open to the public and goes from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at the Maleng Regional Justice Center, Third Floor Rotunda, 401 Fourth Ave. N.
The featured speakers are Whatcom County Superior Court Judge Raquel Montoya-Lewis with remarks from Anthony Jones, an attorney for Tulalip Tribes, an enrolled member of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe and an artist whose work will be displayed. Montoya-Lewis is from the Pueblo of Isleta and the Pueblo of Laguna Indian tribes.
The Chief Seattle Drum Group will provide musical entertainment. Youth and community awards will be presented. Refreshments will be served.
