The award-winning Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising band will perform at 3 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Kent Bluegrass Jam at the Kent Senior Activity Center, 600 E. Smith St.
The Oregon band recently won a $10,000 prize in the 2010 International City Love Music Contest with a song about Boyd’s hometown of Clatskanie, Ore. Other band members include Tim Crosby, Tom Tower and Dennis Nelson.
The Bluegrass Jam begins at 1 p.m. Boyd and her band take the stage at 3 p.m. Donations will be accepted at the concert to help keep the monthly bluegrass program going at the center.
