‘Laugh the Knights Away’ finals had ’em in stitches

Comedian Sean Anderson walked away with a $250 check after winning the Laugh the Knights Away final round Friday night in front of a sellout crowd at the Castle Bridge Winery in Kent.

Kent Laugh-Off leaves ’em in stitches

Did you hear the one about the four comedians who walk into a Kent wine bar? Seriously, four comedians walked into the Castle Bridge Winery, 7645 S. 180th St., to compete in the third round Friday night of Laugh the Knights Away, the first Kent Laugh-Off. Rodger Lizaola, of Seattle, walked out the winner. The crowd turned in ballots ranking the comedians from 1 to 4 to determine the winner.

Video: Kent teachers strike vote – what they said

See the culmination of the Aug. 26 strike vote by the Kent Education Association. A total of 86 percent of the 1,500 teachers in attendance voted in favor of going on strike.

Kent parents, teachers gather for Q&A session

More than 80 parents and teachers showed up Tuesday evening for a question-and-answer session regarding a possible Kent teacher strike. Led by Cara Haney, a Kent Education Association member and teacher at Panther Lake Elementary School, attendees - who seemed to be split nearly 50-50 between parents and teachers - were shown a short slide show of teacher concerns followed by questions.
