For the Reporter

The Rainier Youth Choirs’ final concert of the 2014-2015 Imagine season, Out of the Blue, begins at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at the Kent United Methodist Church, 11010 SE 248th St., Kent.

The concert features some Broadway tunes, crazy songs of all sorts, many soloists, and even some choreography with bamboo poles.

“As … the Imagine season ends, we celebrate our eight talented seniors, each of whom will be featured as soloists on different selections throughout the concert,” said Leora Schwitters, RYC’s artistic director. “Our combined numbers include the inspirational ‘Corner of the Sky’ from ‘Pippin’ by Stephen Schwartz, and Sondheim’s ‘No One is Alone’ from ‘Into the Woods’. The programming is, as usual, quite eclectic, and we hope our audience members will again experience not only tears, but laughter and chills.”

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students (12 and older), $5 for children younger than 12, if purchased in advance. Tickets may be purchased online at www.RainierYouthChoirs.org.

If not sold out, tickets will be available at the door for $15/$12/$7, respectively, starting at 1:15 p.m. All ticket prices are listed as a suggested minimum donation amount.

RYC is also taking camp registrations and scheduling auditions.

Jungle Cruise Summer Choir Camp registration is open for boys and girls entering grades 3-8 this fall. Campers will participate in educational clinics, fun activities, and group rehearsals Aug. 17-20.

Audition appointments are in May and June for singers entering grades 2 and up this fall who wish to join RYC for the 2015-2016 Season. Applicants are urged to secure their teacher recommendation forms in advance.

Visit www.RainierYouthChoirs.org to sign up for camp or audition to join RYC.

The RYC’s mission is to provide affordable instruction for singers in grades 2-14 so they may attain the highest level of artistry in choral performance and music education. RYC is a nonprofit, community-based program sponsored in part by the Kent Arts Commission and 4 Culture.
