A doctor at the Kent Eye Clinic is bringing together people in the community for a glaucoma workshop and happy hour to learn about the blinding disease and how to get it under control.
Dr. Sean Thoreby, who specializes in glaucoma management and treatment, hosts an educational happy hour about glaucoma at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the clinic, 19400 108th Ave. SE, Suite 202. Refreshments will be served.
January is Glaucoma Awareness Month. As the leading cause of blindness in the world, glaucoma is a serious disease that affects vision without any warnings. An estimated three million Americans have glaucoma and only half know they have it, according to the Glaucoma Research Foundation.
“Our industry is still learning a lot about this dynamic disease, so we need to start educating our community on the importance of annual eye exams,” Thoreby said.
