Charting a path to recovery: Comprehensive mental health and addiction services

Well-known for providing compassionate, research-based care and support to some of the most vulnerable members of our community, Valley Cities Behavioral Health Care is a community leader in mental health and addiction services.

“Recovery from mental health illnesses and/or substance abuse is never linear,” says Jessica Forshee-Setzer, MS, LMHC, MHP – Clinic Manager at the Valley Cities Kent clinic. “Individuals experiencing challenges in either their mental health or substance abuse, or those facing challenges with both, often require ongoing support to see real progress and improvement.

“Treatment plans are not one-size-fits-all; what works for one client does not necessarily work for others. With that in mind, offering a variety of services and programs lets us work with our clients on a personalized, case-by-case level,” Forshee-Setzer adds.

Services and programs currently available at the Valley Cities Kent Clinic include:

Mental Health Services

  • Outpatient
  • Adult and youth clinicians
  • Therapists
  • Peer support

Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Services

  • IOP (Intensive Outpatient Addiction Services)
  • SUD walk-in services
  • MATCH (Medication-Assisted Treatment and Community Health program)
  • Support groups: Available three times a week, plus one evening session. Peer support groups meet court requirements.

Additional services and programs

  • Case management
  • Medication management through in-house pharmacy services
  • WRAP-certified team members to support Wellness Recovery Action Plans
  • Employment and housing resources
  • Referral services

“Through compassion, understanding, and research-backed treatment, we’re able to help our clients navigate and overcome the individual obstacles they’re facing in their personal recovery journeys. While it might look different from one person to the next, recovery is possible for everyone,” Forshee-Setzer says.
