Forty-eight children were able to pick out holiday gifts for themselves and their families during the 10th anniversary of the Kent Police Department’s Shop with a Cop.
Officers, city jail corrections staff, the police explorers unit, police civilian staff and city human resources and legal staff participated in the early morning Dec. 9 event at Target on the East Hill.
Funds are raised each year to help children shop for free at the store. A Kent nonprofit that works with youth and families partners with the police and refers children to the event.
“Thank you to Target for all the things you did to help us be successful,” Kent Police said in a statement. “A huge thank you to everyone who donated their money and time to make this year so successful.”
