Evergreen Piecemakers Quilt Guild presents its quilt show, Fall into Quilting, on Saturday and Sunday at the Kent Commons, 525 Fourth Ave. N.

A Western Washington favorite, the show features approximately 200 quilts created by the talented members of Kent’s guild.

The quilt show offers an opportunity to shop till you drop, with a large variety of vendors in a merchant mall. The vendors at the quilt show demonstrate the latest and greatest quilting techniques and quilting tools in their booths. The show also will have a gift gallery booth with one-of-a-kind quilted gifts for sale.

Quilt categories range from traditional, innovative, wall, group, first quilt, home décor and challenge quilts.

Attendees of the quilt show have the opportunity to vote for their favorite quilts with ribbons awarded at the guild’s meeting on Monday night following the show. If you are interested in joining Evergreen Piecemakers, you can do so at the quilt show.

The featured artist, Sara Flannery, will display her spectacular quilts and will be available to chat with attendees who stop by her booth. Known best for experimenting with color combinations and unique quilts, Flannery confesses she “loves designing quilts” and her favorite quilt is usually “the one I am working on. I believe our minds have to be pushing our boundaries whether we are designing quilts, gardening, or keeping up with technology.”

A Kent resident since 1969, Flannery has been a member of the guild for nine years and has volunteered in many capacities for the guild. Flannery’s mother and grandmother were also quilters.

Although Flannery converted a spare bedroom into a studio for her quilting, she said, “I also use the dining and living room for my quilting, adding, “OK, I admit it, the whole house is inundated with my quilting.”

When asked what details are most important in her quilts, Flannery said, “Color, patterns of color, subtle gradations of color, and fabric designs.”

Her attention to detail, especially her unique quilt designs and color choices make Flannery’s quilts a visual delight.

Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
