Ten people were displaced as a two-alarm fire caused an estimated $600,000 damage to six apartments on Kent’s West Hill.
Fire units from Kent, SeaTac, South King Fire and Rescue and King County Medic One were dispatched to a fire at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5 at the Cottonwood Apartments in the 25900 block of 25th Place, according to a Kent Fire Department media release.
The first firefighters to arrive reported extensive smoke and flames from the rear of the three-story complex. The building already had been evacuated at the time firefighter’s arrived.
No one was injured in the fire. Because of the magnitude of the fire a second alarm was requested. The six apartments sustained about $600,000 in damage, according to fire investigators.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Red Cross responded to help the displaced residents with temporary housing and to care for other immediate needs like medications, food, and clothing.
