For the Reporter

More than 500 youth ages 14-18 from Kent, Maple Valley, Federal Way and Renton come together to produce a modern day musical, “Pressing Forward with a Steadfastness in Christ,” June 24-25 at the White River Amphitheatre, 40601 Auburn Enumclaw Road SE, Auburn.

The Press Forward Multi-Stake Youth Conference Musical performances are from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Gates open at 7 p.m. Admission is free and no tickets are required. The musical is for families and individuals of all ages.

There will be dress rehearsals, workshops and speakers throughout Thursday, Friday and Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m.

Youth will share the stage through song and dance.

The musical combines drama, music, and dance to take the audience on a journey through the scriptures, showing how people through the ages have pressed forward despite overwhelming odds and difficulties. Personal experiences of pressing forward will be shared through multimedia by some of the participants.

“Press Forward” is the 2016 theme for youth representing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints worldwide.

“We are encouraged to trust in the things we know are true and keep moving forward with faith, hope and love,” said Bonnie L. Oscarson, Young Women general president for the church.

Everyone is encouraged to register online at pressforward.org.
