The City of Auburn has announced the winners of its 52nd annual Veterans Day Parade held last Saturday.
The parade route was lined with supporters waving American flags, saluting and shouting “thank you” to honor veterans and active military personnel.
A panel of four judges took on the complex task of deciding the winners out of the 200 entries, of which included military entries, ROTC units, veteran service organizations and numerous bands. There are six award categories, with the most prestigious award being the General’s Award – Best in Parade.
This year’s winners:
General’s Award –Best in Parade: #54 Kingston High School Buccaneer Band
Admiral’s Award – Best Military Entry: #82 Graham-Kapowsin High School Army Junior ROTC
Memorial Award to Harold Page – Best Veteran Service Organization Entry: #72 American Gold Star Mothers of Washington State
Colonel’s Award – Best Motorized Entry: #169 Brothers in Arms Motorcycle Club
Veteran’s Award – Best Non-Motorized Entry: #159 Buffalo Soldiers of Seattle
Mayor’s Award – Best Musical or Drill Entry: #167 Grants Pass Marching Band and Color Guard
The City of Auburn would also like to congratulate the winners of the annual Curb Competition. The contest was created in 2010 as a way for groups/organizations that do not fit the parade criteria, to still participate in the event and honor our veterans and active military personnel.
