Disturbing the peace: Officers used a Taser gun on a man to help break up a reported fight between him and his adult brother during a party 9:20 p.m. Sept. 7 in the 22600 block of 41st Place South.
Neighbors called police to complain about noise from a house party that had attracted more than a dozen adults.
When officers arrived at the home, two men were fighting inside the house. Officers told the men to lay down on the floor, but the one brother refused the orders.
An officer then used a Taser to shoot the man with a dart in the upper back. Officers handcuffed the man after he fell to the floor. Police arrested him for investigation of obstructing justice and public disturbance. The other brother said his brother often likes to fight after he has been drinking.
The arrested brother told officers he did not want to talk about the incident, although he said he was sorry and wanted to go home with his brother. Police took him to the city jail.
Theft
A grandfather in his 50s reportedly tried to take a 26-inch television from a store Sept. 8 by placing the item in a baby stroller with his granddaughter. The store is located in the 200 block of Central Avenue South.
Police cited the man through the mail for investigation of third-degree theft. Officers tracked down the identity of the man through his son, whose address showed up on mail found in the baby stroller, according to the police report.
The grandfather, in charge that day of baby-sitting his granddaughter, reportedly walked into the store and placed a television in the bottom of the stroller. He then walked out of the store and down an alley without paying for the television.
Employees watched the man leave the store. They told officers they saw the baby fall out of the stroller, with the grandfather picking up the infant and leaving the stroller and television behind.
Assault
Police arrested a 34-year-old man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he reportedly pushed a former girlfriend to the ground at about 11:30 a.m. Sept. 7 at an apartment complex parking lot in the 24400 block of Russell Road South.
The ex-boyfriend became upset after seeing the woman exit another man’s car, according to the police report. A witness said the ex-boyfriend pushed the woman to the ground after the two had an argument outside the car. The woman had a cut on her elbow, officers said.
The woman told police the two had dated and lived together for about a year before a recent breakup.
The man in the car told officers he tried to tell the former boyfriend he was just friends with the woman.
Malicious mischief: A man who reportedly had been drinking for two straight days broke a dining-room chair, shattered a television remote control and threw a flower vase in front of his wife and children during an incident at 2:12 p.m. Sept. 7 at a home in the 9600 block of South 242nd Court.
Police arrested the man for investigation of third-degree malicious mischief.
Officers responded to a 911 call from the house after the caller hung up before giving details about the incident.
The wife told officers her husband becomes mean when he drinks, and the tirades scare her and the children. She also told officers her husband told her he was that she would leave him because she is too “pretty” to stay with him.
