BNSF Railway conducted testing of crossing gates on Tuesday at several intersections in downtown Kent.
The tests are required by the Federal Railroad Administration. Testing began at 9 a.m. at the Titus Street crossing. Gates also were activated at other crossings between South 259th Street and James Street.
BNSF plans a few more tests this summer and plans to contact Kent city officials with advance notice.
