Work on the South 200th Street Link light rail extension is moving along.
The Sound Transit Board on Thursday approved a contract to design and construct a parking garage and plaza next to the Angle Lake Station. The contract, with the joint venture firm of Harbor Pacific/Graham, is for up to $32.3 million, which includes an 8 percent contingency.
Harbor Pacific/Graham will build a 1,050-stall parking garage, plaza/drop-off area and retail space structure for future lease. About 35,000 square feet at the site will be held for future transit-oriented development.
The South 200th Link Extension expands light rail about 1.6 miles on elevated guideway from the SeaTac/Airport Station to a new, elevated station spanning South 200th Street.
Passenger service is expected to begin in 2016.
