The body found Friday, April 22 in the Green River near Kent has been identified as Leah McHugo, 84, of Auburn, by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.
A woman walking along the shoreline near South 277th Street and Green River Road spotted the body in the river at about 12:30 p.m. Friday and called 911, according to a King County Sheriff’s Office media release.
The Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit and Guardian One helicopter responded. McHugo was pulled from the river about 2:30 p.m. Friday.
McHugo had been living at an assisted living center in north Auburn.
“She was last seen at the assisted living center (earlier) Friday,” according to an email from Sgt. John Urquhart, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office. “The center reported her missing to Auburn Police on Saturday.”
Investigators found no evidence of foul play, Urquhart said.
