Robert Birkby, author of the Boy Scout Handbook, will speak at the Seattle Thunderbirds Friends of Scouting Luncheon that runs from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 at the ShoWare Center in Kent.
Birkby is the author of the last three editions of the Boy Scout Handbooks. He also is an adventure guide, photographer and trail designer.
Proceeds from the luncheon benefit the 2,500 Boy Scouts that are served in the Kent and Renton community.
The Chief Seattle Council of the Boy Scouts hopes to raise $50,000 with 40 table hosts and 400 guests. The cost to host a 10-seat table is $1,500.
