Meridian Elementary School is hosting a Mini-Relay for Life from 11:30 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. this Friday, May 21, at the school.
A Mini-Relay is a youth-focused version of a community Relay For Life that incorporates fundraising and cancer education. Mini-Relay takes place during the school day and is not held overnight as is its community counterpart.
Students participate in the event by walking in honor of and in memory of people who have been touched by cancer. Entertainment and activities ensure that participants have fun and learn. The event is unique to each school it is held at and to the interests of the students
Parents, relatives and friends are encouraged to come to see what the kids have been learning throughout the week, and to walk with them in support of the cause. The kids are learning that 2/3 of all cancer is preventable.
The four topics of education for the week are: Sun screen; Good nutrition; Tobacco Free; and Physical Education
Meridian Elementary School is located at 25621 140th Ave. S.E. The parade of classes, with their banners, starts at 11:30 a.m.
