Kent-Meridian High School will host the 14th Cherry Blossom Festival from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 25.
An estimated 1,400 to 1,800 students, teachers and community members are expected to attend. The opening ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m.
There will be food booths (teriyaki, yakisoba, cotton candies and many other Asian foods) and cultural displays in the cafeteria. The opening ceremony and fashion show will be in the east wing. Judo demonstrations will be in the gym.
A talent show, including taiko drums, will be in the Performing Arts Center.
There will be children’s activities, goldfish scooping, karaoke, Japanese coffee and tea shops in the east wing classrooms.
Tickets are $7 at the door.
The proceeds will benefit the Kent High Schools Japan Exchange Programs.
