The city of Kent will host a free recycling collection event for items typically not accepted at the curb from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, Aug. 18 at Hogan Park, 24400 Russell Road.
Instead of going to the landfill as trash, all collected items will be reused or recycled.
Items that will be accepted include:
• TVs & electronics: TVs (TV sets encased in plastic, wood console, sets encased in wood, and big screens accepted), computers, desktops, laptops, monitors, tablets, e-readers, cellphones, DVD/Blu-ray players, fax machines, holiday lights, keyboards and mice, microwaves, remote controls, scanners, VCRs, wires.
• Document Shredding: Bring your sensitive documents to shred in our safe and secure shredding truck. Limited to 3 legal sized boxes.
• Paint: House paint (latex or oil-based), stains, primers, sealers, clear finishes (e.g., varnishes, shellacs, lacquers).
