The city is calling on residents to volunteer to serve on Kent’s various boards and commissions. Effective Dec. 31, the city will have multiple vacancies.

Applications may be submitted online and are available at KentWA.gov under the Boards and Commissions link. All applications are due by Friday, Dec. 9 at 5 p.m.

The vacancies include:

• Eight, two-year terms on the Bicycle Advisory Board. The 11-member board meets the last Monday of each month to discuss and make recommendations on policies that support non-motorized travel.

• One, year-long term for a youth representative on the Human Services Commission. The 10-member commission meets the fourth Thursday of each month to review social services issues, funding applications and opportunities to promote community awareness of human service needs.

• Two, three-year terms on the Land Use and Planning Board. The seven-member board meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month to review City Code updates, development regulations, comprehensive plan updates and other long-term land use planning topics.

• Four, three-year terms and one, year-long term for a high school student on the Parks and Recreation Commission. The 16-member commission meets the fourth Tuesday of each month to discuss and provide guidance on parks and trails planning, priorities for land/facilities acquisition, and the design and operation of parks programs and facilities.
