Vandals damaged Comcast facilities early Tuesday morning, Jan. 21 in Tukwila causing system outages in parts of several South King County cities, including Kent and Renton.

The damage occurred in the 13200 block of East Marginal Way in Tukwila, according to Comcast.

Some Xfinity and Comcast customers in Burien, Kent, Normandy Park, Renton, SeaTac, Skyway and Tukwila lost service when a cable line was cut.

Comcast network maintenance crews responded to the scene of the damage and determined that repairs required additional safety measures to access the damaged cable. Technicians will replace the damaged lines and restore service as soon as possible, according to Comcast.

The Xfinity Retail Store in Renton was impacted and customers were encouraged to visit the nearby Xfinity Retail store in Tukwila.

When vandals intentionally cut cables, they cause network service outages, and Comcast wants residents to help. If you see something suspicious, please report it to your local law enforcement agency.

“We understand that time without service can be frustrating, and we appreciate our customers’ patience,” according to Comcast.

Check for outages or fix common service issues at xfinity.com/status or the Xfinity app.
