City seeks opinions
Residents can help shape the future of Kent city parks by filling out a parks survey. The 17-question survey is online at www.kentwaparks.com. Surveys also are available at Kent Commons, 525 Fourth Ave.; the Kent Senior Activity Center, 600 E. Smith St.; and the Kent Parks Administrative Offices at City Hall, 220 Fourth Ave.
City officials are starting work on a Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Plan to help determine acquisition, development and renovation of parks, open space and recreational facilities. For more information, contact Lydia Moorehead, city parks planner at 253-856-5114 or e-mail her at lmoorehead@ci.kent.wa.us.
ShoWare gets award
The city-owned ShoWare Center in Kent has been selected as a Green Building of America award winner by Real Estate and Construction Review magazine.
The arena will be featured in the magazine’s upcoming 2009 edition of Northwest Green Success Stories.
Each Green Building of America Success Story project is highlighted in a case study that intertwines the words of the project’s owner, consultants, architects and contractors to explain how the teams worked together to design and build one of the region’s most important, innovative or unique new or renovated sustainable facilities.
The edition is published annually and features the region’s top projects as selected by the magazine’s editorial board.
For more information about the publication, go to www.constructionreviews.com.
