There were 3,772 people found staying outdoors on January 23 in King County during the annual One Night Count. People were found sleeping in doorways, beneath overpasses, in their vehicles, in alleys or walking around, including 135 men, women and children in Kent. The numbers do not include people living in shelters.

In September, the KentHOPE Day Center served an average of 31 women and three children per day. Volunteers served 2,372 meals. Eleven women found housing and six found jobs.

The KentHOPE Women and Children’s Day Center, 9009 Canyon Drive, is open from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. every day of the week.
