King County Executive Dow Constantine will deliver his 2011 State of the County address at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28 on the third-floor rotunda at the Norm Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent.
Constantine will speak at a special Committee of the Whole meeting of the Metropolitan King County Council. The committe includes all nine Council members.
The public will have the opportunity to meet with Council members and Constantine’s staff prior to the address at an informal reception on the rotunda at 9:30 a.m.
Constantine decided to give the speech in Kent to highlight the population centers that exist within King County and the diversity of residents that county government serves, according to a county media release.
If planning to attend, leave plenty of time to find parking, pass through a security screening checkpoint and take the elevator to reach the third-floor rotunda. If the RJC garage is full, overflow parking is available across the street in the ShoWare Center lot.
The speech will be streamed live online through www.kingcounty.gov. King County TV will re-broadcast the Committee of the Whole meeting, including the address by the executive, at 5 p.m. Feb. 28, 8 p.m. March 1, 9:30 p.m. March 2 and 10 p.m. March 4.
